Today, we worked on the large body paragraph posters. Those and the worksheet were due at the end of class. Some of you asked to take the large sheets home to finish. Don't forget to bring them back.
**Don't forget that if you have any zeros, you HAVE to turn them in. If you do not, you will not be allowed to watch The Outsiders movie.

We finished the book today. Tomorrow you will be working on the large body paragraph. You HAVE to have your body worksheet done when you come into class tomorrow.

Today, we took our vocab quiz and continued to read the book.
3rd: Beginning of Chapter 9 (131) 4th: Chapter 9: Tim Shepard and company were already waiting when we arrived at the vacant lot, along with a gang from Brumly, one of the suburbs. (138) 6th: Chapter 9: Tim and the leader of the Brumly outfit moved forward to shake hands with each of us - proving that our gangs were on the same side in this fight. (138) We reviewed our vocab words and recited the poem together. Then we continued to read.
3rd: Chapter 8: Dally was arguing with one of the nurses when we came in. (124) 4th: Beginning of Chapter 9 (131) 6th: Chapter 8: She tightened the strings on her ski jacket. "They play your way. No weapons, fair deal. Your rules." (128) We got the last 5 vocab words to add to our list. The vocab quiz is Friday.
We continued to read. 3rd: Beginning of Chapter 7 (100) 4th: Chapter 7: Darry spun around to face me, genuine fear on his face. "What?" (110) 6th: Chapter 7: But they were charging Johnny for manslaughter. (108) We started class by learning the next 5 vocab words.
You have to memorize and recite Robert Frost's poem Only Gold Can Stay by Friday, May 18. Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. We continued to read The Outsiders. 3rd: Chapter 5: (After the poem) Johnny was staring at me. 4th: Chapter 6: Johnny had been quietly finishing his fifth barbecue sandwich, but now he announced: "We're goin' back and turn ourselves in." 6th: Beginning of Chapter 6.
